先ほどBBC（イギリス）のウェブサイトに付属した投稿欄に投書しました。在外華僑による投書が殺到しており、その大多数が「打倒日本」になっていたので、自分の実名と肩書きを公開した投稿をしました。載るかもしれません。ぼくの投稿は、ある書き込みのハンドルネームが「屠殺小日本」のアルファベット化したものですよ、という指摘から始まります。以下、原文です：

I am a talk show host working for J-WAVE (FM radio in Tokyo) and have been covering this conflict for a few weeks.

I noticed that the handle-name of one of the writers from China was an alphabetization of Mandarin which translates:
"Kill the Petty Japanese"

• • • • • • I considered asking the BBC to delete that entry or alter the name, but on second thought, I am asking that the handle-name remain in place, as an artifact.

My findings so far, reading Japanese media and Western news:
（日本の報道と欧米のニュースを読み比べた考察は以下の通りです）

1) The Japanese on average feel that the Japanese government made a formal apology during the term of Prime Minister Murayama (a socialist).
（平均的に日本人は日本政府が中国に正式に謝罪をしたと認識しています。これは社会党連立内閣の村山政権で行われました）

2) Neither the Chinese or Koreans at large find that apology to be sufficient.
（しかし中国人・韓国人の大多数はこの謝罪を不十分と見ています）

3) The leaders of anti-Japan web sites in China are quoted (by sources like Newsweek) as saying that Japan has never made an apology or reparation.
（反日ウェブサイトの指導者達はニューズウィークなどの取材に対して、日本は何一つ謝罪も補償もしたことがないと主張しています）
4) However, the Japanese government has been giving extraordinary amounts of ODA (aid) to China for some time. A substantial portion of this ODA has apparently been used by the Chinese goverment for military purposes.
（しかし日本政府は巨億のODAを長い期間に渡って中国政府に提供してきました。中国政府はこのある部分を軍事予算にあてたとも言われています）

5)The Japanese on average don't feel that Yasukuni Shrine is a particularly holy place. They use its premises as a place to get wildly drunk during cherry blossom viewing season.
（日本人は平均的に靖国神社を聖域と意識していません。お花見の季節には、靖国の境内に立ち並ぶ桜の木の下で酔っぱらって騒ぎます）

6)Some Taiwanese congressmen recently made a trip to the shrine to pay respect to Taiwanese who fought on the Japanese side.
（最近、台湾の国会議員が靖国神社に参拝し、日本側で太平洋戦争を戦った英霊に祈りました）

7)China is now Japan's biggest trade partner.
（中国は今や日本の最大の貿易パートナーです）

8)Most Japanese say that they want an arms-free world, with no military in any country. Very few say that they will go to war for Japan, should Japan be attacked.
（大半の日本人は武器も軍もない世界を望む、と言います。日本が攻撃されたら祖国を守るために前線に行くという人はほとんどいません）

9)Most young people in Japan are not concerned about politics, and do not vote.
（日本の若者の大半は政治に無関心で、投票に行きません）

10)Many young people in China are concerned politically, but they can't vote.
（中国の若者の多くは政治に強い関心を持っていますが、投票には行けません）

11)Finally, on the Japanese end, most people are taken by complete surprise at the seemingly sudden eruption of fury, raging in the affluent cities of China.
（最後に日本サイドでは、この突然の怒りの噴出が沿海部の豊かな都市で起きたことに戸惑っているのです）
